Guest Designer at Get Picky

Hello everyone,

A few weeks a go I was lucky enough to win Get Picky's Inspiration challenge #3 and was then asked to be Guest Designer for Inspiration Challenge #4.

Challenge #4 - use the words from Bob Dylan's song "Forever Young" as your inspiration.  Take inspiration from the title, words, part of the song, whatever would inspire you.

Here are the words.
"Forever Young"
May God bless and keep you always
May your wishes all come true
May you always do for others
And let others do for you
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.

May you grow up to be righteous
May you grow up to be true
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you
May you always be courageous
Stand upright and be strong
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.

May your hands always be busy
May your feet always be swift
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift
May your heart always be joyful
And may your song always be sung
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.

Here is my LO.  I was instantly drawn to the two little words “May you” which is written at the start of nearly every line in the song. This then became the title and inspiration for my page. The words in the song has inspired my journalling, not only the way I have written the journalling, but also using some of the words in the song help me journal about my sons life. I took parts of each verse and turned it into my own journalling.

Look forward to seeing your entries on this challenge!

On a different note...Riley is off to his first day at Kindy today! He is so excited....He loved helping me pack his bag on the weekend.  So I will pop a photo or two up later no doubt!

Last day of the month....wonder if I can do any last minute challenges???
I have lots of exciting scrappy news to tell you next month plus I will be back tomorrow with next months challenges for WW1 and KIU!

Would you believe....

I have done a double!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I can't remember the last time I did a double, it would definitely have to be around the time I first started scrapping and when I thought 2 pages side by side in an album had to be the same/similar....oh how I have changed.  But I must say I had fun doing this one.  I used the latest sketch at Get Picky for my inspiration.  I have had these photos for a while and they were perfect for doing a double and telling the story behind them.

Sketch:

(Boys will be Boyz)!!! The more and more these two get older and closer the more they do and think the same things.  Growing up in an all girl family (5 girls!!) it sure is a learning curve for me...just in how they think, its so different to girls....but I love it and wouldn't swap it for anything! My days are always full of fun and mischief....these two can sure cook up something good.

On this particular day I was inside and could hear water running outside and I thought that is funny, I don't remember leaving the hose running, so I went outside to investigate and found out that these two had discovered the tap to the tank.  They had the most fun filling up their buckets and tipping water over each other!! But unfortunately it was when we had really tight water restrictions in Brisbane and could only use tank water to wash our cars and water the plants, so Daddy took all the fun away by removing the tap.  Had too, didn't know when the next lot of rain was going to come.  Don't have to worry about that now hey!

I really enjoyed doing a scene layout, haven't done that for a while and used the gorgeous Bella Blvd Sunny Happy Skies papers.

Thanks for visiting, hope you all have a lovely week :)

Amongst it all....

This week was hard for me, just seeing what has happened to those in the Queensland floods, I have had many friends and family affected by it.  I have been trying to do my bit in helping our little town where I can, mainly helping my sister get back on her feet, plus a couple of girls from her work lost EVERYTHING! I can not imagine having to throw all my stuff out...my heart goes out to everyone.  Its also been 1 year since I lost my Grandad, so I have been thinking about that too.

Just a few photos, obviously not taken by me of the flooding that occurred in our town of Emerald.

80% of the town affected by the floods.

One of the newer areas in town.
Spillway at the Fairbairn Dam - just over 5 meters over the spillway.
The main bridge (Vince Lester Bridge) into town, just before it went completely under.  Peaked at 16.2meters. No guard rails visible.

But in all that can I just give out a little.....

TOOT TOOT for me!!!!

Check this announcement over at the Get Picky challenge blog! I am so excited to have won and to be chosen as Guest Designer for Inspiration Challenge #4!! Stay tuned....

Just leaving you with just a couple of cute photos I got of the boys while on holidays! Just realised I hadn't shared any.

The boys went down this waterslide all afternoon, every day! They had so much fun!
One of the pools....it had nice sand at the waters edge for the boys to play in.

Have a great weekend!

Remember this...

well I used it the other day for the January sketch challenge at Bons. Had so much fun, watching it crackle!! So did the boys...hehe!!  Sketch designed by the talented Master, Tara Scobie.  Extra criteria:

* use two matted photos, smaller than a 6x4
* stripes
* handwritten journalling directly onto cardstock.

Here is the sketch:

And here is my LO (just flipped it)....(Cute Lil Denims)

And a close up of the crackle....it looks so much cooler IRL!

Have a great day and a super weekend!!

Just be You...

Hello everyone,

Nothing like leaving a challenge until the last minute but I have been working on this Get Picky Inspiration Challenge #3 for the last few days in between helping my sister clean up her house and business after the floods, so it has taken me a lot longer than I wanted it to.

Now, I know you are probably wondering what on earth did I use for my inspiration....simple....the orange in the flames and candles really stood out as well as the silver and blue tones and not to mention the pattern wall paper.

Loved using the Pink Paislee Parisian Anthology Papers.  Sprayed it with some Graphite GM, rubbed it in until you could see the pattern behind and then sprayed some Jazz Blue GM on top of that, and rubbed it. Just a very simple layout but I love it!

Thanks for stopping by....I appreciate all your comments!

Guest Designer...

I was very excited to be asked to be January's Guest Designer for the new Challenge Blog "SHOW US YOUR STUFF"!!  I was provided with this awesome sketch along with some flowers from Pretty Petals.

Sketch:

(Cheeki Boy):

Just a few close up's of the Pretty Petal's flowers.

My little Finlay being his usual cheeky little self!!  He thought he was so clever that he could fit inside this basket!!

Hope you all had a lovely weekend. Ours was good, nothing out of the ordinary.  Brad was on call and didn't get much of a weekend.  Work is so busy at the moment as you can expect.  Oh well on a brighter note, I am nearly caught up on jobs.  Hope to do some scrapping this week!
